was established in 1992 between two Syrian businessmen. The
company commenced its activity with printed shopping bags
in addition to shrink rolls and sanitary napkins sacks. In
1993, it started to produce plastic laminas used in greenhouses
and in 1996, it undertook an expansion of all its facilities.
Project Location
The
plant is located in Sbineh, a suburb area of Damascus, Syria.
Project Cost
Total project cost is estimated at US$9.3 million
ICD's Role and Developmental Impact
ICD
extended an installment sale financing of US$3.8 million to
cover the cost of printing machines and the recycling unit.
The project has a clear developmental impact stemming from
its import substitution and job creation potential and the
introduction of state-of-the-art technology for the production
(for the first time in Syria) of three-layer plastic laminas
that are used in greenhouses. In addition the Company has
a strong track record in achieving continuous growth, high
profitability, and strong presence in the local market.
